Fionnuala Garvey
Fionnuala Garvey
Veterinary Surgeon
MVB, CERT VR

Fionnuala has been crazy about animals all her life! She minded neighbours' pets as a child and spent every possible free minute on her cousin's dairy farm in Co. Mayo. She graduated from University College Dublin veterinary college in 1999, and worked in mixed practice in Co Wexford for 3 years, after which she went back to college to study for the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons Certificate in Veterinary Radiology. She is one of only a handful of Irish vets with this postgraduate qualification. She worked part-time in the Dublin Animal Emergency Clinic from December 2003 to August 2010, gaining invaluable experience and confidence dealing with out-of-hour emergencies. She established Blessington Pet Hospital in 2004. She loves all aspects of veterinary medicine, from complex medical cases to tricky surgeries, but she particularly enjoys dental procedures and xrays. She lives with her husband, son, and 2 mischievous black and white kittens called Nuts and Bolts. In her spare time she enjoys choral singing, reading and swimming.

Sarah McCully
Sarah McCully
Veterinary Surgeon
MVB

Sarah graduated from University College Dublin veterinary college in 1993, and went to work in South Wales in mixed practice, then on to Wolverhampton to a busy five-vet small animal hospital. Having gained valuable experience in the UK, she moved back to Ireland, and has worked mainly in small animal practice since. She enjoys gardening, badminton and a bit of pilates in her spare time. She lives with her husband, two teenager children, and her pets - Jack Russell terrier Sparky, cats Jojo, George and Alfie, and a small flock of hens. She works part-time in Blessington Pet Hospital, and really enjoys the variety of the work, and the company of her fantastic colleagues!

Tara O'Reilly
Tara O'Reilly
Veterinary Nurse
VN

Tara started her vet nursing career in Gloucester, England in 1992, graduated in 2004, and went on to become joint head nurse in that practice. She then moved to Ireland with her boyfriend in March 2013, together with her rescue cats Sage and Onion. Tara joined the Blessington Pet Hospital family in May 2015, and although she makes regular visits back to family and friends in Gloucester, she's here to stay! When she is not at work she is kept busy walking her gorgeous chocolate labrador Tuskar around the many picturesque walks of Blessington. She also makes the best homemade soup!

Julie Corrigan
Julie Corrigan
Veterinary Nurse
VN

Julie grew up on a dairy farm in Co Carlow. She started studying veterinary nursing in the UK in 2009 and gained her honours degree in 2013. She has worked in various practices in both the UK and Ireland before joining Blessington Pet Hospital in June 2019. She is currently studying for a diploma in Veterinary Physiotherapy and hopes to qualify in 2022. Julie has a collie called Ted and two horses called Silver and Philip. Outside of work Julie enjoys taking Ted for walks and teaching him new tricks, horse riding, powerlifting and drawing and painting.

Simba & Nala
Simba & Nala

We now have 2 new practice kittens. Photo attached. Bio - "The newbies, Simba and his sister Nala, arrived Oct 2018 and are proceeding to shred and rearrange the entire practice! They are rapidly learning the essential skills of meeting and greeting clients and pets, and of lying in the most inopportune of places (covering equipment vents and occupying client chairs in reception). They look forward to welcoming you to their kingdom.

Loolah & Fruitcake
Loolah & Fruitcake

The original bosses! Loolah and Fruitcake were adopted as 6 week old kittens by Fionnuala in August 2004 to become the Blessington Pet Hospital practice cats, and they have grown from shy kittens to the regal felines beloved of so many of our clients. They meet and greet, will occasionally permit demonstration of how to have medications administered/harnesses fitted/proper cat worshipping done, and have won over every work experience student during the past 13 years. And no, Fruitcake is not pregnant, he just loves his food!

Unfortunately we lost Loolah in May 2017 (aged 13) and Fruitcake in August 2018 (aged 14). We were heartbroken without our beloved cats, but we are honoured to have shared their lives and been loved by them.
